ShadowingMaster (shadowingmaster.com) is a web-based language-learning application that enables users to practise the shadowing technique with their own video content. It is developed and operated by Vitticeps Ltd, a software company registered in England and Wales, founded by Laszlo.
What is the shadowing technique?
The shadowing technique is a language-learning method in which the learner listens to a native speaker and imitates their speech as closely as possible - reproducing rhythm, intonation, speed, and pronunciation. It differs from traditional language-learning methods, which typically begin with vocabulary and grammar. Shadowing prioritises listening comprehension and spoken reproduction first, developing an intuitive feel for the language before formal rules are introduced. The method is used by language learners, accent coaches, and performers.
ShadowingMaster provides a set of tools specifically designed for shadowing practice. Users upload their own video content and work through it at their own pace, directly in the browser. No additional software is required.

Chunk and slow down
Users select a specific segment of the video - a sentence or phrase. The segment can be slowed down and set to loop, allowing repeated listening before any attempt to reproduce the speech.
Record and compare
Users record themselves shadowing the selected segment. The recording and the original video audio playback are simultaneous, allowing direct comparison. All recordings are stored locally on the user's device and are never uploaded to any server.
Who uses ShadowingMaster?
ShadowingMaster is used by three primary groups. Language learners who want to develop natural-sounding spoken fluency rather than grammatical knowledge alone. Individuals working on accent reduction or pronunciation clarity for professional or personal reasons. Performers, including actors and voice artists, who need to reproduce specific speech patterns accurately. Founded by Laszlo - Vitticeps Ltd
ShadowingMaster was built by Laszlo, founder of Vitticeps Ltd. Laszlo is a self-taught software engineer originally from Hungary, based in the UK. Having moved to the UK, he encountered first-hand the gap between formal language education and the ability to understand and reproduce natural native speech. ShadowingMaster was developed to address that gap. Laszlo documents his own use of the application publicly on YouTube, where he works on his English pronunciation and learns Italian from scratch using the shadowing method.
Recordings never leave your device
Audio recorded within ShadowingMaster is captured and stored locally on the user's device only. It is not uploaded to any server, not processed externally, and not accessible to Vitticeps Ltd or any third party. This applies to all users on all account types.
